We thought it was about time you meet the faces behind Danica Avery! As you may know, Danica Avery is a joint pen name. We’re Danielle and Amber, the D & A that inspired the name. When we started releasing our novels, we decided to go with a shared pen name instead of dealing with two author names on each book. It was fitting because each of our stories is the creative work of us both.
We’re not only good friends, we’re family, close as sisters. I know I speak for us both when I say I couldn’t imagine a better partner to be writing books with!
The pen name also works well for us because we have plans to publish books in other genres down the road. Danielle would like to write horror and I’m itching to write some urban fantasy. So, the name Danica Avery is specifically for our romance stories.
We’ve been writing together for nearly twenty years. We actually met through writing, when we were teenagers. Our friendship grew over the years, along with our massive world of stories, as we would write on roleplay forums together. We have more stories developed than we know what to do with! So, finally, we turned our talents toward writing novels.
We’re both huge animal lovers and our furbabies are important members of our families. That’s precisely why we include some kind of animal in all our books.
Movies are another shared passion of ours and they’ve always been a strong part of our friendship. We often imagine the overall arc and scenes of our books playing out like movies, which has really helped our books come to life.
One final thing I want to mention is that we’re both Christian. Even though our books have adult scenes and sometimes dark themes, we refuse to write anything that uses God’s name as a curse or is hateful against Him. We’ve gotten this far in our career thanks to Him and we’ve very grateful for everything He’s blessed us with, including our friendship and our furbabies!
Danielle is our creative mastermind. She’s an endless fountain of unique ideas and fun scenarios – the kind of stuff that keeps our readers turning that page.
Outside of writing, she’s the voice of our Facebook page. She’s an avid photographer and shares the lives of her dogs on their own Instagram page. She’s also a big fan of the horror genre.
Amber is our detail master. She enjoys painting a visual with words and polishing the plots until they shine.
She’s the voice of our Instagram and she has a geeky love for formatting manuscripts. She has several artsy hobbies, including crochet and drawing, and she’s a sucker for all things time travel.
Life wouldn’t be complete without our furry companions! Lola, the black pit bull, and Nori, the tan boxer mix, are Danielle’s loveable dogs. Lola is the more serious of the two. She’s the big sister, so to speak. While Nori is the energetic goofball that always brings a smile to her momma’s face. Check out their Insta! @tailtaledogs
Simon, often referred to as Sir Simon on Instagram, is Amber’s pride and joy. While she has one other cat, Jinx, and a dog named Toby, it’s Simon that has that special place by her side. He’s curious and oh so playful. Quite a character! He’s the little ball of sunshine that keeps her sane most days.
We currently have four romances released, and many more drafts waiting in the wings. We began with contemporary romance, the small town setting of Heart’s Peak, and we’re itching to branch out into more fantasy-driven genres like paranormal or sci-fi romance and to the more heart-pounding scenes of dark romance. As our library expands, you can expect a bit of everything!
Amber is half of the co-author duo that is Danica Avery. She lives in Maryland with her three furbabies. When she’s not being a crazy cat lady, or working on books, she enjoys playing video games, baking sweets, crocheting, and other artsy hobbies.
