Heart’s Peak Update

Are you ready for more Heart’s Peak?!

We have exciting news for our Heart’s Peak fans! We have not one, but two new HP books releasing this year!

It all started with Redemption, squeaking in for the final days of 2019. Then My Latest Mistake came along in the autumn of 2020. We were overdue for another installment, huh? We’re excited to announce that Heart’s Peak 3 will be released later this year. You can likely expect to see it this summer. We’ll update our newsletter subscribers and social media followers when we have a set date. We’re working on the draft for HP3 right now.

The next book you’ll see from us will actually be a Heart’s Peak prequel! Danielle took the reins writing this one and she finished the draft yesterday! The prequel takes place alongside the beginning of Redemption and readers of the series will be pleased to see plenty of characters and places they recognize from the other books. This book is a short and sweet introduction to the series. It’s the story of Birdie, a hometown waitress. Between the diner that’s struggling to get by and the rebellious teenage brother she has at home, she’s got enough on her plate. The flirtatious out-of-towner is probably more trouble that she doesn’t need. Besides, Rhys is wealthy and classy and completely out of her league. Yet there’s something about him that sweeps her breath away. Could she put herself first for once… and find true love?

Excerpt from Heart’s Peak Prequel Draft

“No problem. I’ll get this put in for ya.” She turned and started to walk away.
“Excuse me.” His words from behind made her pause. She twirled around to look at him.
“Yes?”
“Is that a nickname? Birdie?”
Birdie looked down at her nametag. She grinned and nodded her head. “Yeah, I don’t like my full name much.”
“What is it, if you don’t mind me asking?” He looked intrigued. There was even a hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Gosh, it made him look sexy.
“I don’t usually tell people that until I get to know ‘em first.”
He looked at her and made a ‘hmm’ sound through his lips. He nodded his head. “Fair enough. I’ll just have to get to know you then, won’t I?”
Heat flooded Birdie’s cheeks. Was this fancy man flirting with her?!
“Heh… Yeah, maybe,” she said, and turned to continue on her way. She couldn’t remember the last time she had blushed. She wasn’t shy in the least. Never had been. But that one caught her off guard. He had been so prim and proper, and serious. Then all of a sudden he was flirting with her?
“Whew, it’s hot in here,” she said, fanning her face. She stepped up to the window and pinned the order there for Wyatt to get started on.
“Birdie, you’re as red as a beet!” said Trula suddenly. And in her obnoxiously loud outside voice.
Birdie’s eyes went wide. “Shhh!”
“Well you are,” said Trula. “What’s goin’ on?”
Emeline heard the commotion and came over to be nosy as well.
“It’s nothin’, okay. He just… I think he’s flirting with me,” she said in a quiet whisper. Gosh, she hoped he didn’t hear Trula!
“Are you serious? Oh my gosh, girl, go get it!” Emeline said enthusiastically.
“What? No. Look at him. He’s totally out of my league. Like out of the park out of my league!” Birdie said in disbelief. She could not see herself anywhere near a guy like that, let alone dating him.
“If he’s flirtin’ with ya, he doesn’t think so,” Emeline said in a matter of fact tone.
“No. No. I don’t like the look of that one. I’d stay away from him, if it were me,” said Trula.
Emeline frowned. “Don’t listen to her. She’s just mad cause her husband snores like a dump truck.”

We’re going to focus on finishing the Heart’s Peak 3 draft, then come back to edit the prequel. It’s always better to take a break after writing to start edits with fresh eyes.

Heart’s Peak 3 will follow the story of Junie. Readers of My Latest Mistake will recognize her as Luka’s loveable niece. A few years have passed and now she’s on the verge of adulthood in her senior year of high school. She has a loving boyfriend and plans for college, yet there’s something missing in her life. Things aren’t perfect with her long-time beau. When her grandfather hires help for the family farm, she meets the mysterious Sam, and she finally gets her first taste of what real love might be. Sam has a big secret, though. Something he’s hiding. Something he’s running from.

We wanted to give this one a fun mystery similiar to what Redemption had, but overall, it’s really a coming-of-age story. It’s about Junie figuring out who she really is and what she wants from her life.

We like to give each book in the series a different theme, so that they’re each unique and interesting to read. We have many more ideas lined up for future Heart’s Peak books! It’s exciting to see how the world is growing. Every book has some kind of connection with the other books, whether it’s through the characters or the locations. Background characters in one book are the highlight of another book. Who knows where this series will go!

In other news, you can expect to see In the Dog House 2 later this year. The draft is begun and the main story arc is planned, so it’s down to working out the smaller pieces to get from here to there. I’m also desperately hoping to finish the panther shifter romance soon. It would be awesome to be able to release them both this year!

I also want to give a happy shout out to our holiday romance, My Unexpected Valentine. It reached 30 ratings on Amazon the other day!! That’s a milestone for us! As relatively new authors on the scene, our books have been hovering in the teens for their rating counts. Which is nice. We’re grateful for every rating and review we receive. Whenever there’s a new one, we’re always pointing it out to each other. (Seriously, your input matters!) So, it’s really awesome to break 30. Let’s go, Valentine!

Which book are you most looking forward to? Let us know on social media!
