A Cover for Kayden’s Tale

It’s finally here! Kayden’s tale has a shiny new cover and a title too! This fun new read will be called In the Dog House. Kayden finds himself in the dog house literally, as he pretends to be a pet dog, and figuratively when he lets his heart get in the way of the job.

We’ve been so excited to share this cover with you! We both love it so much. It looks amazing. I came up with the design, Danielle found the perfect stock images, and our cover artist turned it into a piece of art! If you’ve never worked on a book cover before, you might not know, but finding accurate models for your characters is not easy. There’s the race and general appearance, along with the style and feel of the character, and even the position of their poses has to work with your design. So we were definitely blessed to find these images. They fit Kayden and Brielle so well! And Brielle’s model even had a photoshoot with a Doberman! How perfect was that?

In the Dog House is a paranormal romance about a Doberman shifter named Kayden. He’s a naughty boy who uses his abilities for personal gain. Along with his gang of dog shifters, they pose as guard dogs and then rob homes when the owners leave. It’s an easy con, though the money never lasts long. When their leader sets her sights on robbing a bank, the temptation of being set for life is too strong for any of them to pass up. Only reward doesn’t come without risk. Kayden finds himself in his most difficult job ever. Especially because he falls for the bank manager’s daughter. ⁣

How can he win Brielle’s heart when she only knows him as the family dog? And will he go through with the heist? He’s torn between the love of his life and his loyalty to his pack.

And what about Brielle? She’s a college student, living with her parents while she’s studying to become a nurse. She’s got enough on her plate with her overbearing ex-boyfriend who doesn’t want to let her go. She has no idea that the new dog her dad brings home is going to change her life forever. For better or worse? Well, you’ll have to wait to find out!

This book is full of comedy, loveable characters, steamy love scenes, and action-packed scenes are scattered throughout. Danielle wrote this one solo, and let me tell you, I was excited every time she passed over a new chapter for me to read! I love this story so much! I really can’t wait for it to be released, for all of you to be able to read.

We have a tentative release date in mind and we’ll finalize that in the coming weeks. You can sign up for our newsletter to make sure you don’t miss it! We’ll also be announcing our updates on social media. Facebook and Instagram, specifically.

Speaking of Facebook, Danielle has been posting character spotlights! If you’d like to get to know Kayden and Brielle better, and even their friends, you’ll want to go check out those spotlights. She even included the celebrity faces that inspired the character appearances.

In the Dog House will be the first book in a new series called the Feral Crime Shifters. This one’s about a thief, the second is about a private investigator, and we have a lot more shifter criminal fun to come. The first two books will be standalone stories, but we plan to make our leads cross paths somewhere in future books. The series will continue to follow Kayden and Brielle (and Jameson and Ros) throughout new adventures!⁣

Now I hope you’re feeling as excited as we are for In the Dog House! Here’s a little snippet from the opening chapter, just for you.

Excerpt from In the Dog House

The car disappeared down the road and Kade sat, peering through the glass. The dusk sky faded into the full blackness of night, and still he sat. Waiting. Until a black van pulled into the driveway.
Kade watched as the sliding door was yanked open and several people climbed out. He didn’t bark. He didn’t even produce a growl. Instead, he left the window and trotted over to the security panel.
Something happened to the dog then. His body began to shift. His canine form twisted and cracked, and a minute later, he was no longer a dog at all. He was a full grown man.
           Kade had become Kayden.
As a man, he stood two inches shy of six feet. He had short, dark brown hair and blue eyes. Like the dog, his build was lean and well-muscled. With washboard abs and perfectly sculpted biceps, he looked like something from a magazine ad.
           He was also buck naked.
He punched in the security code and the alarm was deactivated. Pulling open the door, he allowed the intruders to come inside. There were five of them. Three women and two men, all wearing black.
“Get dressed, will ya?” one of them said, tossing Kayden some clothes. He had a thick Irish accent that sounded very out of place considering they were in Texas.
Kayden grinned as he started pulling on the clothes. “They won’t be back for several hours. All the good stuff is in their room.”
