When we were brainstorming a plot for Redemption, we came up with several different ideas. Some of them were cute ideas. Some of them were kind of off the wall. Those of you that read romance actively know there are so many different kinds. I joking suggested doing a mountain man romance, since I had recently seen several of those on Amazon. That little joke is what lead us to writing Redemption.
For our first romance, we wanted something simple and not too complicated. The mountain man suggestion turned into a small town romance, and soon enough Heart’s Peak was brought to life.
During the time we were writing our novel, I ended up googling ‘mountain man’ just to get an idea of what one looked like. The picture below is what I found. In the romance world mountain men are sexy. In the real world? Not so much.
It brought a laugh out of me, but I didn’t actually bring up my google search to A until some time later. I was both surprised and amused to find out that she had googled the exact same thing!
We had a good laugh about it, but thankfully, our mountain man, Burley Johnson, is far from the ones you’ll find on Google. He was actually loosely based on the physical appearance of a WWE wrestler. We needed someone big and burly, and he fit the bill. Kudos to anyone who can figure out which wrestler that is.

Born in Kentucky, Danielle currently resides in central Florida. She enjoys bringing to life a variety of different characters. One could be a lovable goof who never fails to make you laugh, and another might be a bitter, angry person, who hates the world and everything in it. Humor and anger come hand in hand. Happy and sappy? Not her cup of tea. She prefers the broken and the flawed, because as we all know, no one is perfect.
When not writing romance, you’ll find her laughing at her two dogs as they partake in a constant battle with the squirrels in the backyard. Much to the disappointment of the dogs, the squirrels always come out the victor. Danielle also enjoys coming up with way too many story ideas in the shower, rocking out to the 80s, playing video games, and watching horror movies all year long.
